Experienced Educational Leader Begins New Role Effective July 1, 2026
July 1, 2026 — The Benjamin Banneker Association (BBA) proudly announces the appointment of Monique Harrison, Ed.S. as its new President, effective July 1, 2026.
A respected educational consultant, author, and leader with more than three decades of experience in education, Harrison brings a deep commitment to educational excellence, equity, and student achievement. Throughout her career, she has championed initiatives that strengthen school leadership, empower educators, and improve outcomes for students and families.
As President, Harrison will work closely with the Association’s Board of Directors, members, educators, and strategic partners to advance BBA’s mission of promoting excellence in mathematics education for Black students while supporting teachers, researchers, and educational leaders nationwide. The Association continues to build on the legacy of its namesake, Benjamin Banneker, by fostering innovation, advocacy, professional development, and equitable opportunities in mathematics education.

Harrison’s appointment marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Association as it continues to expand member engagement, strengthen strategic partnerships, and develop innovative programming that supports educators and students across the country.
